For this project we partnered with Empire State University, a public institution known for its flexible and accessible online learning model, to redesign and reposition its digital presence for a fully online student experience. The initiative focused on evolving the university’s brand, improving usability and accessibility, and creating personalized pathways to support diverse audiences ranging from traditional Gen Z learners to adult and neurodivergent students.
By aligning strategic design, content, and technology enhancements with the university’s enrollment goals, the new site aimed to make a strong first impression, simplify the journey to engagement, and drive measurable increases in inquiries and student conversion.

Reframing a Digital-First University
A public university built for online learning needed a web presence that reflected its flexibility, credibility, and scale. The existing experience struggled to clearly communicate value, support diverse student needs, and guide prospective learners through a complex decision process.

Designing for Clarity, Access, and Choice
The redesign centered on simplifying pathways, strengthening brand expression, and prioritizing accessibility across the entire experience. Content, interaction, and navigation were restructured to support multiple audiences, learning styles, and entry points without overwhelming users.
From First Impression to Enrollment Momentum
The resulting platform delivers a more intuitive, welcoming, and confident experience for prospective students. By aligning design decisions with enrollment goals and measurable outcomes, the site supports stronger engagement, clearer decision making, and improved conversion.
